Report: thyssenkrupp Re-Examines Plans for Hydrogen DRI Furnace
10/07/2024 - thyssenkrupp AG is said to be reviewing plans for its billion-euro project to convert from traditional blast furnace ironmaking to hydrogen-fueled ironmaking.
Citing a report in German newspaper Handelsblatt, the Bloomberg news service said the company is weighing several options, one of which is to cancel the project altogether.
A thyssenkrupp spokesperson told the newspaper that the company remains committed to the green transformation.
“The situation is currently being evaluated. At present, we assume that the direct reduction plant can be realized under the given conditions,” the spokesperson said.
