Report: Liberty House Nears Deal on U.S. Wire Rod Mill, But Uncertainty Remains
08/09/2017 - U.K.-based Liberty House Group is getting close to finalizing a deal to acquire a South Carolina wire rod mill, but zoning issues could wind up killing it, the company tells The (Charleston, S.C.) Post and Courier.
“It’s been a long journey to get here, but we’re very close to the end,” Liberty House spokesman Gordon Spelich told the newspaper, speaking of his company’s plans to acquire the now-closed ArcelorMittal steel mill.
However, Spelich said local plans to rezone the mill site, enabling redevelopment of property around it, could be a “show stopper.”
