Report: Chinese Steel Mills Begin Production Curtailments
10/31/2017 - China's central and provincial governments, which have ordered mill shutdowns as a way to combat air pollution during the winter heating season, might have pushed ahead production curtailments ahead of schedule, reports S&P Global Platts.
According to Platts, the curtailments were set to begin in mid-November, but in the steelmaking city of Tangshan, the air quality is said to be exceptionally poor, and the provincial government reportedly began imposing suspensions earlier this month.
