Reliance Steel Moves in Alaskan Distribution Market
08/02/2016 - Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. has acquired Alaska’s largest steel distributor for an undisclosed amount, the company has announced.
Founded in 1982, Alaska Steel Co. operates out of three facilities in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Kenai. It sells carbon and stainless steels, specialty metals and aluminum and has a variety of processing capabilities, including shearing, sawing, and plasma and flame cutting.
The distributor posted net sales of US$33 million in 2015, according to Reliance.
"Alaska Steel represents Reliance's entry into the important and significant Alaska market and furthers our geographic, customer and product diversification," said Reliance president and chief executive Gregg Mollins in a statement.
