Refractories Producer to Open Tennessee Plant
03/06/2024 - German refractories manufacturer INTOCAST has broken ground on a US$20 million plant in Huntingdon, Tenn., planting its flag in the U.S. market.
According to INTOCAST, the plant will be capable of annually producing 40,000 tons of MgO-C refractories and materials, with room for future expansion. Construction is set to begin in July.
The company said the plant will utilize robotics and artificial intelligence for process and quality control. It will feature a low-emission, German-made furnace; full integration of product waste; and state-of-the-art R&D and quality labs.
“We are not just building a new plant; we are forging a new chapter for INTOCAST in American steelmaking,” said INTOCAST AG chief executive officer Matthias Normann. “Our new American megaclass factory will not only provide our customers with access to the highest quality refractories and on-site services available but will also bring jobs and economic growth to the region.”
