Refractories Maker Announces U.S. Plant Start-Up

According to PRCO, the facility, at full production, will annually produce 50,000 to 60,000 tons of resin- bonded refractory products for the steelmaking industry. The plant utilizes a new source of magnesia as the main raw material, the company said.
“This new magnesia is higher purity with zero detectable boron and zero detectable chlorine, which results in superior physical properties of the refractory,” it said.

The plant will serve steel customers in Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Nebraska and Texas. PRCO plans to open an MgO recycling center next year to take back used refractories and expects to begin hiring for the second shift in the next few months.
