Red Bud Industries Lands Order for Coil Processing Line

In a statement, Red Bud said the new line is bound for Lapham-Hickey Steel Corp.’s Bedford Park, Ill., plant. The line will be housed in a 35,000 square foot expansion.

The line will include an automatic coil loading system; three packed arbor slitting heads; dual helical scrap choppers; a tensioner system and a fully automatic packaging line.

“The line is designed for quick setup and changeover. A coil prep and automatic coil loading system will be provided. The line will also feature ‘hands free’ push button strip threading from the uncoiler and directly into the recoiler’s gripper slot. This will allow operators to thread the coil without ever coming in contact with the strip,” Red Bud said in a statement.

The line will be capable of processing sheet thicknesses of between .008 inches and 0.25 inches and will be able to accommodate coils of up to 30 tons.
