Rautaruukki Included in Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes
09/09/2008 - Rautaruukki is included in this year’s Dow Jones Sustainability World and in the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability index.
Rautaruukki announced that it has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World (DJSI World) index and, for the second year running, in the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability (DJSI STOXX) index. The indexes include the top companies in their sector that are committed to sustainable development.
Ruukki ranks among the world’s six best steel companies on the DJSI World list and is the only Finnish company to be added to the index this year. Six Finnish companies are in the DJSI World and STOXX indexes.
”The fact that we were selected as members of the Dow Jones Sustainability indexes shows that we accept our own responsibility and are doing the right things to promote sustainable development,” said Ruukki’s Toni Hemminki, Vice President, Energy and Environment. “Sustainability at Ruukki is aimed at securing long-term operating conditions from the economic, social and environmental aspects”.
This year’s DJSI World index includes 320 components from 27 different countries, and the DJSI STOXX index includes 162 components from 14 European countries.
Since 1999, DJSI indexes have measured efforts within the corporate sector to improve sustainability. An independent assessment party, SAM Group Holding AG, carries out a thorough annual analysis of companies’ sustainability performance. Companies such as Ruukki that are included in an index are also subject to continuous tracking.
