Quebec Cartier Mining Announces New CEO

Quebec Cartier Mining Co. announced that Francois Pelletier will become President and CEO, succeeding Jacques Chabanier, who is retiring.

Pelletier’s new position is effective May 1, 2007. He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer, a position he has held since December 2006. In this capacity he has been responsible for operations, sales and marketing, technology and human resources.

"Francois Pelletier has demonstrated strong leadership in several senior positions within Quebec Cartier, during his long career with the company,” commented Mr. Chabanier. “He will make an outstanding President and Chief Executive, with a deep knowledge of the company, its customers and the iron ore industry".

Pelletier joined Quebec Cartier in 1976. He is also the President of Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, and a Director of the Mining Association of Canada.

Also commenting on Mr. Pelletier's appointment, Malay Mukherjee, Member of the Group Management Board of Arcelor Mittal, said, "I would like to thank Jacques Chabanier for his steady leadership of Quebec Cartier Mining Co. through the transitional period as Quebec Cartier joined the Arcelor Mittal family of companies, and also to recognize the selection of a strong successor in Francois Pelletier, in a time of rapid developments in global iron ore markets and in the customer base."
