Process Technology International, Inc. recently announced receipt of a contract from Tung Ho Steel, Taiwan, for PTI’s JetBOx^™ chemical energy system.

The system will be installed on Tung Ho’s 110-tonne DC EAF and includes four JetBOxes for introduction of supersonic oxygen as well as carbon for slag foaming.

JetBOx injectors are capable of operating submerged in the foamy slag layer, significantly improving the efficiency of oxygen, carbon and natural gas inputs and helping to reduce energy losses to the furnace off-gas and sidewalls. The JetBOx injectors also facilitate a reduction of natural gas for shrouding due to its close proximity to the metal bath.

PTI’s JetBOx technology has now been adopted by over 35 steel plants worldwide with more than 130 JetBOxes in operation.
