Process Technology International, Inc. (PTI) recently announced receipt of three new contracts for its patented JetBOx^™ Chemical Energy System for Electric Arc Furnaces.

PTI will install one JetBOx system at Benteler Stahl/Rohr, Lingen, Germany, on the company’s 30-tonne AC EAF. PTI will also install two JetBOxes on a 30-tonne AC EAF for Yantai Zhenhe, China, and two JetBOxes on a 39-tonne AC EAF for Changcheng Steel (Great Wall), China.

JetBOx technology allows PTI’s multifunctional supersonic burner/injectors to be positioned closer to the molten bath, thereby maximizing oxygen, carbon and natural gas efficiency. In addition the ability of the JetBOx injectors to operate submerged in the foamy slag layer offers significant improvement in decarburization and recarburization efficiencies, and helps to reduce energy losses to the off gas and sidewalls. PTI’s integrated automation and control system provides EAF steelmakers the ability to precisely control all chemical energy inputs and functions to maximize savings.

PTI’s JetBOx technology has now been adopted by over 35 steel plants worldwide with more than 130 JetBOxes in operation.
