PTI Installs JetBOx System at Five Asian Steel Facilities
08/31/2007 - Process Technology International completes installation and start-up of JetBOx combustion systems, comprising multiple JetBOxes and JetBUrners, at several steel mills in Asia.
Process Technology International, Inc. (PTI) has completed installation and start-up of its JetBOx™ combustion system at several steel mills in Asia.
The company’s most recently completed JetBOx installations include:
- On the 90-tonne electric arc furnace at Diler Yazici in the Republic of Turkey.
- On the 138-tonne electric arc furnace at G Steel in Thailand.
- On the 53-tonne electric arc furnace at Yongtong Special Steel in P.R. China
- On the 50-tonne electric arc furnace at United Steel Co. in Taiwan.
- On the 40-tonne electric arc furnace at Anlong Steel of Zhengzhou, P.R. China
Each of these systems includes multiple JetBOxes and JetBUrnersTM capable of introducing shrouded supersonic oxygen and injected carbon, a specialized flow-control train, and integrated customized automation and control systems.
The JetBOx injectors are able to operate submerged in the foamy slag layer, which significantly improves the efficiency of oxygen, carbon and natural gas inputs and helps reduce energy losses to the furnace off-gas and sidewalls. Natural gas consumption for oxygen jet shrouding can also be reduced due to the jet’s close proximity to the metal bath. As part of its business philosophy, PTI guarantees significant performance and cost savings as a part of each contract.
The recent installations bring the total number of PTI installations to 65 (worldwide).
