PTC Alliance Announces End of Strike at Alliance
10/15/2007 - Union workers at PTC Alliance Corp.’s Alliance, Ohio, plant agree to end their strike and return to work unconditionally under terms of the most recent contract.
Union workers at PTC Alliance Corp.’s Alliance, Ohio, plant have agreed to end their strike and return to work unconditionally.
The employees, who are represented by the United Steelworkers, went on strike on Oct. 1 after the most recent contract expired Sept. 30, despite a proposed contract that had been agreed to by union representatives.
"We are pleased that the union has decided to end its strike and return to work," said Cary Hart, Chief Operating Officer North American Tube. "Our contingency plans allowed us to continue to serve our customers throughout the short strike, without interruption or a single cancellation, by using plant supervisors, other management personnel and temporary replacement workers. When the union realized that we were serious about continuing production, either with them or with permanent replacements, they ended the strike."
"We want to express our gratitude to our management personnel, to the temporary workers and to our customers who stood by us during this time," said Peter Whiting, President and CEO. "We are proud that product continued to be shipped as normal, and gratified that our customers gave us their full support."
The approximately 220 workers were to return to work on Sunday, October 14. The workers will work under the terms of the most recent contract.
