Project Aims to Improve Energy Recovery at Cogen Plant

“Until now, the … plant produced energy out of blast furnace gas, but only after reducing its pressure. Now, where we used to reduce that pressure, we will install the (top pressure recovery turbines), which will be powered by the compressed blast furnace gas to produce energy that would otherwise have been lost,” said  Artur Łój, a project manager with TAMEH Polska.

TAMEH Polska is a division of ArcelorMittal joint venture Tauron ArcelorMittal Energy Holding, which owns cogen plants at ArcelorMittal plants in Poland and the Czech Republic. The project is taking place at ArcelorMittal Poland’s Dabrowa Górnicza facility.
