In a statement, Primetals said the project will focus on the S6 caster mold at China Steel Corp.’s Kaohsiung plant. Through the project, Primetals will install three technology packages: its DynaWidth hydraulic mold width adjustment to allow accurate slab width change during or between casting, its Mold Expert breakout prevention and monitoring system to minimize the possibility of breakouts, and its DynaFlex hydraulic mold oscillation system to improve surface quality.
 
Primetals Technologies will supply the technology and advise on installation and commissioning. Mold components will be manufactured in Taiwan by China Steel Corp.’s China Steel Machinery business.  

Start-up is scheduled for mid-2018.
