Primetals to Supply Stainless Bar and Rod Mill
02/08/2016 - China’s Yongxing Special Stainless Steel Co. Ltd., has awarded a contract for a combination bar and wire rod mill to Primetals Technologies, the company has announced.
The combination mill, which also will produce bar in coil, is being designed to produce 250,000 tons annually of stainless valve steels, nickel-based alloy steel, and several stainless grades, including austenitic, ferritic, dual-phase and hardening steels.
The products it will produce will serve customers in the aerospace, energy, medical, automotive and petroleum industries, among others, Primetals said.
Under the contract, Primetals said it will supply a reversing sliding breakdown mill and 14 Red Ring stands, straight bar equipment, bar-in-coil equipment; and rod outlet equipment.
Primetals said the mill will be capable of running at 62 tons per hour, with a maximum speed of 80 meters per second. It will be able to make straight bar in diameters ranging from 30 mm to 130 mm; bar in coil in diameters ranging from 14 mm to 40 mm; and wire rod ranging from 4.5 mm to 16 mm.
Commissioning is scheduled to take place later this year.
