Primetals Technologies Wins Order for 6-Strand Bloom Casting Machine
01/29/2025 - A Chinese steel producer in the northeast has ordered a 6-strand bloom casting machine from Primetals Technologies.
According to Primetals Technologies, the caster will produce low-, medium- and high-carbon steel grades for sections, rails, and wire rods, including tire cord.
“Primetals Technologies will supply the complete mechanical equipment along with full level 1 and level 2 automation systems,” the company said.
The mechanical equipment will feature the largest curved copper tube mold ever implemented by Primetals Technologies along with the DynaFlex hydraulic oscillator, which improves strand surface quality.
Automation systems will include the fully automated roll gap control system DynaGap Soft Reduction, Dynacs 3D as a secondary cooling system and the LeyCon control system which controls mold level stability.
The order follows the customer’s positive prior experiences with Primetals Technologies.
The equipment will be implemented within 2025.
