Primetals Technologies to Supply 3.4-Million-Ton Slab Caster for Algerian Mill
05/12/2022 - Tosyali Holding has contracted Primetals Technologies to install a 3.4-million-ton-capacity slab caster at its mill in Bethioua, Algeria, the equipment supplier reports.
According to Primetals Technologies, the new caster will assist Turkish-based Tosyali’s expansion into the Algerian market.
The two-strand caster will produce slabs in widths between 900 to 1,800 mm and in thicknesses between 200 to 250 mm. In addition to the caster, Primetals Technologies will install its Flow Master electromagnetic stirring and braking system, Level 2 automation, and Through-Process Optimization (TPO) quality tracking system.
Start-up on the slab caster is scheduled for summer 2024, Primetals Technologies said.
