Primetals Technologies Secures Order for Rolling Equipment
08/12/2016 - Czech steelmaker Třinecké železárny has awarded a contract to Primetals Technologies for a new billet stand and a combination saw for its plant in Třinec, Primetals has announced.
According to Primetals, the project is intended to improve rolling precision and product quality and will make plant operations more flexible.
Under the contract, Primetals will supply the equipment, fluid systems, and the electrical and automation packages. It also will oversee installation and commissioning.
The new equipment includes an entry-side manipulator to translate and rotate the bars between the roll passes, a BDM 37 billet stand with a working centerline of 1,270 mm and roll barrel with a length of 2,200 mm, and a TRM-P1800SX combination saw.
Primetals said the billet stand will be able to process blooms in widths of between 220 to 280 mm and in thicknesses of between 150 and 240 mm. The stand will be capable of rolling squares with cross-sections ranging from 100 to 155 and rounds in diameters of 150, 180 and 210 mm.
Commissioning is scheduled for November 2017.
