Primetals Technologies said the 135-metric-ton converters and the de-dusting equipment will help reduce emissions, shorten the production cycle and improve steel quality at the steelmaker’s long products plant in Jõao Monlevade.

The order includes vessels, support rings, suspension systems, tilt drives, bearings, bases and west vessels, support rings, suspension systems, tilt drives, bearings, bases, and wet primary dust collectors.

Primetals Technologies also will supply an electrical and automation package that includes level 1 automation motors and drives. 
Commissioning is set for the first quarter of 2025.
