According to Primetals Technologies, the project at China Steel Corp.’s Kaohsiung facility is intended to increase electrical steel production capacity. Work includes improvements to three existing stands and installation of a new stand and induction heater. 

“Recent similar revamping projects to enhance high-grade electrical steel production was a key factor for China Steel Corp. when choosing Primetals Technologies as its supplier,” the company said. 

As part of the project, Primetals Technologies will outfit the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 stands with its Hyper Universal Crown Control technology. According to Primetals Technologies, its Hyper Universal Crown Control mills can roll higher-strength steels into thinner strip while achieving higher levels of quality and productivity. 

Start-up is scheduled for September 2025.
