Primetals Technologies Receives Order for Arvedi ESP Line
11/08/2019 - An unidentified Chinese steel producer has contracted Primetals Technologies to build a cast-roll plant at a new steel works in the Hebei Province.
According to Primetals, the Arvedi Endless Strip Production (ESP) line will be fed by a BOF now under construction. The line will be capable of rolling strip to a thickness of 0.7 mm and in widths of up to 1,600 mm. It will produce carbon steels; high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) grades; and dual-phase steels and will allow the producer to enter new market segments.
“The Arvedi ESP plant will allow the steel producer to better serve the highly attractive local and export markets for high-quality, thin-gauge strip products,” Primetals Technologies said in a statement.
Although Primetals Technologies did not identify the customer, it described the customer as an integrated producer capable of making 6 million metric tons annually. It also said the customer operates in two provinces and has other business lines, including natural gas production, logistics and real estate development.
Primetals Technologies will supply the machinery, media-control systems and automation systems. The entire line will be controlled by an integrated level 1 and level 2 automation system that will fully control all casting and rolling operations.
Start-up is scheduled for 2021.
