The plants were built at the HKM’s basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steel plant at its Duisburg-Huckingen site.
 
The heating stands have a designed capacity of 5.2 million metric tons of liquid steel per year. According to Primetals Technologies, the stands use copper-clad lids that increase service life and ensure the quality of the steel.
 
The ladle treatment stands reduce refractory consumption of the converters by lowering the tapping temperature, reduce phosphorus content and reduce the amount of slag.
 
Primetals Technologies’ scope of supply included process equipment, installation and commissioning, as well as electrical, automation and control systems.
