Primetals Technologies Opens New U.S. Headquarters

The company, a joint venture between Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals and Siemens VAI Metals Technologies, said it plans to bring 140 new jobs to, and invest US$2 million in, Alpharetta. The company said its 35,000-square-foot headquarters will house engineers, managers, technicians, and sales and support staff.

Primetals has nearly 9,000 employees worldwide. Of those, 2,300 work at engineering, manufacturing and service-center locations throughout North and South America.

The headquarters staff had been working out of a Siemens office in Alpharetta.

"As a leading technology supplier to the metals industry, we believe this is the best place for our new headquarters,” said Primetals USA president and CEO Satoru Iijima, who spoke during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

He said the most important part of the company’s growth will be its employees. Therefore, it was important to find the space that would best support its people, he said.
