Primetals Technologies also said in the announcement that it signed a cooperation agreement to jointly develop advanced Industry 4.0 solutions in hot rolling.

“The implementation of an extensive package of Industry 4.0 solutions is an important step to achieve the target of building an intelligent and the most advanced hot strip mill in the world,” Primetals Technologies said in a statement.

The mill is being built in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, and is to be completed in 2022. It will have a rated capacity of 4.5 million metric tons per year and will produce coil in widths ranging from 720 mm to 1,780 mm. Its thickness capability will range from 1.2 mm to 12.7 mm.

“Primetals Technologies´ Industry 4.0 solutions will make the hot strip mill fit for digitalization and optimized production results,” Primetals Technologies said.
