Primetals Technologies Gets the Nod for New Tandem Cold Mill
04/21/2020 - Primetals Technologies has bagged an order for a 6-stand tandem cold mill to be built in China’s Hebei province, the company announced Tuesday.
In a statement, Primetals Technologies said the mill is being built for China’s Shougang Qian’an Electric Vehicle Electric Steel Co. Ltd. The new mill will process electrical steel grades, advanced high-strength steel grades, tin grades and others in thicknesses between 0.18 mm and 2.5 mm and in widths between 750 mm and 1,320 mm.
Primetals Technologies said the mill will feature its Hyper Universal Crown Control technology, which uses smaller diameter work rolls to reduce rolling loads.
“This allows for the production of harder and thinner materials with improved product quality. All six stands of the Hyper UC-mill are equipped with a work roll shift function, marking its first application to this mill type, to enable precise edge profile control,” Primetals Technologies said.
The mill should be completed by mid-2022, Primetals Technologies said.
