In an announcement Thursday, Primetals Technologies said the exclusive cooperation agreement with Industrial Technology Research (ITR) will leverage their individual customer bases to create a go-to supplier for maintenance services. 

“With the technology, know-how and capabilities of ITR, especially in the area of prediction, we will be able to even better serve our customers through leading condition monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions,” said Karl Purkarthofer, senior vice president and global head of metallurgical services. 

“This partnership also demonstrates our position as a technological front-runner in the area of digitalization and Industry 4.0 for the metals industry.”

The agreement advances a standing, 10-year relationship between the companies, which already are jointly serving more than 50 customers. 

Based in Bethlehem, Pa., USA, ITR was one of the original founders of the modern vibration monitoring and analysis industry, Primetals Technologies said. Its offerings include all of the major predictive maintenance technologies, including infrared thermography, airborne ultrasound and fluids analysis.
