In a statement, Primetals Technologies said the license gives it the exclusive right to execute pelletizing plants in India based on Metso straight grate reference projects with grate sizes ranging from 272 m² to 816 m². 

Primetals Technologies said the licensed technology complements its existing portfolio of circular pelletizing plants.

“Indian pellet plant capacity is expected to grow significantly in coming years to meet the growing demand of steel in India. This agreement with Metso Outotec will enable Primetals Technologies to provide our customers with proven and reliable technology for iron ore pellets production,” said Aashish Gupta, executive vice president and upstream global business unit head. 

Primetals Technologies said the license also allows it to engage in respective aftermarket services for the technology in India.
