Primetals Technologies Details voestalpine Bloom Caster
10/01/2020 - A new caster at voestalpine’s site in Leoben, Austria is capable of producing 950,000 metric tons annually and can cast in fully automatic mode, the caster’s manufacturer, Primetals Technologies, reports.
According to Primetals Technologies, the No. 4 caster is a 4-strand unit that can make round blooms in diameters of 230 mm and rectangular blooms in cross-sections of 270 x 360 mm and 440 x 330 mm.
The continuous bloom caster is equipped with the DynaFlex hydraulic mold oscillator and LevCon mold level control.
voestalpine announced the successful start-up of the caster late last month.
