Primetals Technologies Bags Order for Ladle Furnace

In a statement, Primetals Technologies said the 100-ton furnace will be installed at the steelmaker’s Ixtaczoquitlán site in southeastern Mexico. It will provide additional capacity for TYASA’s CASTRIP line, which was built a few years ago, Primetals Technologies said.

In addition to the furnace, Primetals Technologies also will supply automatic stirring gas couplings for the whole steel plant. The new equipment will replace the current manual process in which operators establish the stirring gas connection by hand, Primetals Technologies said.

Start-up is scheduled for July 2023. Primetals Technologies said the furnace will be integrated with existing dedusting and water treatment systems, minimizing downtime.
