Primetals Technologies Bags Order for 140-Metric-Ton LMF
12/11/2018 - China’s largest privately owned steelmaker, Jiangsu Shagang Group Company Ltd., has ordered a twin-ladle metallurgy furnace from Primetals Technologies, the equipment supplier has announced.
In a statement, Primetals Technologies said the new 140-metric-ton furnace will be the third such unit at its converter steelworks in Zhangjiagang. The furnace will help refine chemistry and set the casting temperature for a downstream bloom caster.
“The additional ladle furnace will enable the entire annual production capacity of 2.8 million metric tons of liquid steel to be treated. Also, the new ladle furnace will improve liquid steel quality … and allow for development of high-value-added products.”
In addition to the equipment, Primetals Technologies will supply the electrical equipment and automation systems, including its Melt Expert electrode control system and associated level 2 models.
Primetals Technologies will also supervise installation and commissioning and provide training. The project is to be completed by mid-2019.
