According to Primetals, the project will be carried out in two stages. In the first stage, the furnace rocker as well as its roof raising and tilting systems will be upgraded. In the second stage, the tapping system will be converted.  

The project is intended to speed up furnace movements and allow for longer electrode segments to be used. Primetals Technologies will oversee the engineering, installation and commissioning and supply the equipment.

The work is scheduled for completion next summer.
