Primetals Secures Order for Meltshop Substation

According to Primetals, the order includes a 230 kilovolt substation with dead tank circuit breakers, control and relay panels, metering equipment, power monitoring system, 34.5 kilovolt medium voltage switchgear, and a static VAR compensation system.

Primetals also will provide on-site commissioning, service and staff training. The new equipment is scheduled for start-up late in the first quarter of 2016.

The meltshop will allow Frisa, which makes seamless rolled rings and open die forgings for industrial markets, to locally process its own raw materials, Primetals said.

The meltshop is being supplied by Austria’s INTECO. The plant includes an electric arc furnace, a ladle furnace, a vacuum degassing plant, a material handling system and an ingot casting area.
