In a statement, Primetals said the casters are part of a facility being built by HBIS Group Co. Ltd. in the city of Tangshan. 

The twin-strand casters will be able to produce a combined 4.2 million metric tons worth of slabs annually.  Each of the casters will have a machine radius of 9.5 m and a metallurgical length of 35.1 m. They will cast slabs in thickness of 230 millimeters and in widths ranging from 900 to 1,900 mm. 

Primetals will supply core components, such as molds, mold oscillators, and Smart Benders and Smart Segments for the strand-guide system. The company is also responsible for the detail engineering of the casting platform and the strand-guiding system; the basic and detail engineering of the maintenance area; and the engineering of the automation and the software.
