Praxair Selected for Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index

Praxair, Inc. has been included in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for the second consecutive year.

Praxair says it is the only industrial gases company to make the index, which recognizes leaders in climate change disclosure practices based on their responses to an annual questionnaire. High scores indicate good internal data management and understanding of climate-change issues affecting the company.

“Our selection reflects the Praxair team’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement in energy efficiency and environmental performance worldwide,” said Riva Krut, Praxair’s Director of Sustainability. “We continue to identify new opportunities to reduce both our own environmental footprint as well as that of our customers.”

Praxair’s response to the CDP questionnaire can be found on its website, www.praxair.com, in the Corporate Responsibility section.

The Carbon Disclosure Project, founded in 2000, represents 475 institutional investors worldwide with more than $55 trillion in assets under management. An independent, non-profit organization, CDP collects climate change data from 2500 corporations around the globe and has assembled the world’s most extensive corporate greenhouse gas emissions database.

Praxair is the largest industrial gases company in North and South America, and one of the largest worldwide, with 2008 sales of $10.8 billion. Praxair products, services, and technologies bring productivity and environmental benefits to a variety of industries, including aerospace, chemicals, food and beverage, electronics, energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and metals.
