Praxair Recognizes Employee Zero Waste Efforts With Global Tree Planting Program
07/11/2013 - In recognition of Praxair, Inc. employee efforts to achieve zero waste around the world, the Praxair Foundation is implementing “Praxair’s Greenway Project,” a new sustainability program that will plant or preserve 250,000 trees globally this year.
In collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation and The Nature Conservancy, two leading environmental organizations dedicated to the protection and conservation of natural resources, the program will help restore fragile ecosystems in Brazil, Mexico, the United States and China.
Praxair employees contribute to sustaining the planet’s resources through the company’s Zero Waste program. Over 6,000 employees around the world at more than 180 sites are participating in Zero Waste and have prevented 73 million pounds of waste from going to landfills.
“Praxair’s Greenway Project is our way of saying thank you to our employees for their ‘Zero Waste’ contribution,” said Riva Krut, vice president and chief sustainability officer. “With the match from the Praxair Foundation, we are living our company’s mission of making our planet more productive by simultaneously reducing our environmental footprint and creating environmental, economic and social benefits. We are delighted to be working with the Arbor Day Foundation and The Nature Conservancy on this important project.”
