Praxair Didn't at First Succeed, And Now It's Trying Again
11/30/2016 - Industrial gas supplier Praxair is looking to renew merger talks with Linde, its German rival, the company said on Tuesday.
In a brief statement, Praxair confirmed that it has again approached Linde about resuming the discussions, which first began in late summer and broke off in September. A merger would create an industrial gas giant worth about US$60 billion.
According to the Dow Jones Business News service, Praxair made its approach last week. It said negotiations could begin soon, but there are no guarantees that Linde will again entertain the idea.
The Reuters news service said Linde’s executive board is reviewing Praxair’s proposal.
