Posco Selects Employees to Work Abroad

Posco recently completed its selection of workers to be assigned to its overseas global units, including those in China, Japan, India, and Mexico. The company expects them to lead its global growth by realizing “Vision 2018” and “Posco 3.0,” the steelmaker’s business visions.

A total of 27 employees—12 in marketing, 11 in management support, three in technical departments, and one in the raw materials post—have been selected; they will assume their overseas positions by the end of this year, following an extended education program by Posco.

Language education will be the number one priority in the education program. Those who will have to speak in Vietnamese, Spanish, and Portuguese will go through a six-month regional studies program before their assignment; those who will speak in English, Japanese, and Chinese will get language program support during and after work.

Posco says that all of the selected employees will join in-company language clubs so that they can maintain their language proficiency before and after their overseas working period.

An orientation meeting is scheduled for January 21, and group education will take place in April as part of their preparatory program.
