Posco Receives Korea New Growth Management Award

Posco received presidential commendation in the large enterprise division of the “8th Annual Korea New Growth Management Award”.

The “Korea New Growth Management Award” in its 8th annual year, selects companies that bring together independent technologies to create new growth engines. In selecting Posco for the presidential commendation, the group recognized the company for contributing to Korean economy and steel industry development through innovative next-generation steelmaking technologies such as FINEX. Posco also proactively sought new green business technologies such as magnesium refining, lithium materials, LNG terminal and fuel cell, which helped to provide stepping stones for Korea to become a global green energy stronghold.

Posco has strongly pursued competitive new technology development related to the lithium material business, helping to boost the country’s material expertise. Posco has also secured domestic magnesium competitiveness through automated facilities while completing construction of Asia’s first fuel cell production facilities, providing foundations for the new growth business.

In addition, as the first private company in Korea to build an LNG terminal, Posco has responded to domestic and international environmental regulations according to climate changes through stable direct import of LNG, which is the main fuel of integrated steelworks.

Posco was presented its award on December 20 at the Maekyung Media Center as part of an event hosted by Maeil Business Newspaper and mbn, and sponsored by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. Also during the event, Hancom received presidential commendation in the SMB division, and LSIS and Korea Smart Card each received recognition in the Prime Minister’s commendation.
