Posco Provides Training for Indonesian Joint Venture

The steel plate department at Posco Pohang Works recently invited Krakatau Posco employees to participate in an introductory training session.

The Indonesian staff members from the joint venture between Posco and Indonesia’s state-owned Krakatau Steel consisted of three engineers and 12 other workers. The training program included an orientation, lectures on basic knowledge in plate production, as well as on-site practical training.

Situated in the city of Cilegon, Krakatau Posco is scheduled to complete the construction of an integrated steel mill with an annual production capacity of 3 million tonnes by 2013. Plans call for the facility to eventually be expanded to handle annual production of 6 million tonnes.

The steel plate department is organizing five more training sessions to help Krakatau Steel employees play a key role in the construction of the steel mill.
