Posco Named Most Competitive Steelmaker in the World
04/12/2010 - Posco won first place in the 2010 Steelmaker Competitiveness Assessment published by World Steel Dynamics, an agency specializing in the analysis of the steelmaking industry. Posco received the highest grades for core technology, pricing power, and financial soundness out of 23 criteria.
Posco won first place in the 2010 Steelmaker Competitiveness Assessment published by World Steel Dynamics (WSD), an agency specializing in the analysis of the steelmaking industry.
WSD releases a report covering the competitiveness of steelmakers worldwide every year. In this year’s assessment, it evaluated 32 of the largest steelmakers on 23 criteria, including production capacity, profitability, and technology, and reported their comprehensive competitiveness rankings.
Posco received the highest grades for core technology, pricing power, and financial soundness, and scored an overall 7.84 points (out of 10). The company took the lead on the WSD report for the first time in five years, since doing so for three consecutive years between 2002 and 2004.
India’s SAIL took second place this year with a score of 7.41; Russia’s NLMK took third with 7.40; Severstal from Russia took fourth place; and fifth place went to Brazilian steelmaker CSN.
