Posco-JNPC recently conducted two days of safety drills to bolster its contingency capability to swiftly react to natural disasters.
The drill focused on ways to prepare for such contingencies as earthquakes, tsunamis and fires, studying in-house manuals for evacuation and using fire extinguishers. Firefighters from the local fire station were invited to lecture on fire evacuation procedures and how to use fire extinguishers.
The entire staff at Posco-JNPC attended the drill, which took place at the Toyohashi plant on April 26 and Yokkaichi plant the following day. When the emergency system was activated, employees followed emergency procedures, evacuating the building and moving to a safety shelter.
Posco has scheduled safety drills every month in order to raise awareness on how to respond to contingency events.
