Posco Hosts Global Raw Materials Discussions
10/01/2010 - Posco Senior Executive Vice President Kwon Young-tae recently hosted a plenary session for the annual meeting of worldsteel’s Raw Materials Committee. Topics included recent developments of the global steel and raw materials industry, the future business outlook, and pending issues facing the global steelmaking industry.
Posco held last week a plenary session for worldsteel’s Raw Materials Committee. The session, which took place at the at Seoul Posco Center, was hosted by Posco Senior Executive Vice President Kwon Young-tae, who also chairs the Raw Materials Committee. The event was attended by some 30 members with materials purchasing responsibilities at global steel manufacturers.
The Committee, which consists of raw materials executives from the international steel industry, has held annual meetings every September since it was established in 1967. The annual meeting serves as a platform for committee members to discuss and exchange information on major issues in the global raw materials market.
At this year's meeting, participants reviewed developments of the global steel and raw materials industry, exchanged opinions on the future business outlook, and discussed pending issues facing the global steelmaking industry. Issues discussed at the meeting will be highlighted at the upcoming executive meeting in early October in Tokyo.
