Posco-CORE INDIA Launches New Production Line

Posco-CORE INDIA is targeting the Indian transformer market with its new production line for GO lamination sheets.

The Posco affiliate recently held an opening ceremony, with VIP guests such as Posco TMC Senior Vice President Park Sung-kwon and Mumbai-based Korean Consul General Lee Seo-hang in attendance. The production facility, which comprises four El Core Presses and two lamination transformers, is now in full operation.

Posco-CORE INDIA is a joint venture between Posco-TMC and Posco-IPPC (India Pune Processing Center), which hold 74% and 26% of the new company’s shares, respectively.

Opened in the Pune Industrial Complex in the state of Maharashtra, India, the joint venture will seek to compete with India’s leading transformer makers such as EMCO and CROMPTON. With the new production facility, the company is able to produce 6,000 tons of El Core and 10,000 tons of Lamination per year.

“The new production line will help us deal with various needs of our customers,” Mr. Park, Senior Vice President of Posco-TMC said during the opening ceremony. “Timely enough, the entire Posco Family is expanding investments in India,” he added.

In addition to the Posco-CORE INDIA project, Posco is also working on increasing its market presence in India by establishing more GO-processing centers in the country, including the Posco-IPPC 3 plant in Hyderabad and the Posco-Poggen Amp joint venture in Ahmedabad.
