Posco CEO Chung Joonyang recently attended the 7th China International Steel Congress, jointly hosted by CISA (China Iron and Steel Association) and MC-CCPIT (Metallurgical Council of China Council for the Promotion), and held a discussion under the theme “New Technologies of Posco.”

The China International Steel Congress, which first started in 2000, is held bi-annually, hosting in-depth discussions on strategic issues faced by the steel industry. Steel industry CEOs and related academia and industry personnel are invited from around the world to share new paradigms of the steel industry and seek further industry development.

The 7th conference held this year was focused on ways the steel industry must change and innovate to overcome the current difficulties of the environment, materials, and heightening competition in an uncertain world economy. Major agendas included environmental policies, green technology roadmap, new product development, and optimizing supply chains.

Other participants at the conference included Zhu Jimin, Chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association (Chairman of Shougang Group); Zhang Xiaogang, Chairman of the World Steel Association (Chairman of Anshan Iron and Steel Group Corp.); Edwin Basson, Director General of the World Steel Association; Wolfgang Eder, President of EUROFER; Bada Hajime, JFE Chairman; Xu Lejiang, Chairman of Baosteel; and other steel industry CEOs and personnel.

At the 6th China International Steel Congress in 2010, Joonyang made a keynote speech on “Green Growth Strategy of Posco.”
