11/05/2010 - Posco CEO Chung Joon-yang participated in the Korea-Australia Business Talk, an event that is meant to support free trade agreements such as the Korea-Australia FTA and promote economic cooperation among different countries. The event is co-hosted by the two countries’ finance ministries.
Posco CEO Chung Joon-yang participated in the Korea-Australia Business Talk, which recently took place at Lotte Hotel Seoul, as the head of Korea’s largest steel company and also as chairman of the Korea-Australia Business Council.
The non-governmental business event is co-hosted by the two countries’ finance ministries and was launched at the suggestion of the Australian government. The goal is to openly discuss bilateral business cooperation.
Under the theme of “Going Global, Green and Great,” the event is meant to support free trade agreements such as the Korea-Australia FTA and promote economic cooperation among different countries.
“Green” symbolizes the two country’s collaboration efforts in growing the renewable energy industry to secure new sources of future growth. “Great” is said to signify that now is the time for privately owned corporations to support the ongoing collaboration efforts between the two countries’ governments.
Following the opening ceremony, the participants discussed detailed collaboration strategies through group discussions specialized in finance, and energy and green growth.
During the event, Korean companies agreed to increase their investment in Australian LNG (liquefied natural gas) projects. The two parties also reached an agreement to seek business opportunities together, in the field of eco-friendly technology development, based on the two governments’ low-carbon green growth policies.
