Posco Breaks Ground for Posco-CYPC in Yantai

Posco has started the construction of Posco-CYPC, a new Chinese processing center, in the Economy Technology Development Zone in Yantai, Shandong Province.

The company has been working to build up the new supply chain management center for automobile sheets in order to support the continued expansion of production of Shandong-based Chinese carmakers in Yantai and Jinan. Posco-CYPC will process 170,000 tons of steel products annually for supply to customer firms such as Shanghai GM and Geely, as well as Foxconn and Samsung Electronics.

Posco said the new plant is of high significance because it is the company’s 50th global SCM center. Posco plans to complete Posco-CLPC in China in June, followed by Posco-TNPC in Turkey in July. With the completion of Posco-CYPC next January, Posco will own 50 processing plants in 14 countries.

Some 100 guests attended the ground-breaking ceremony, including government officials and executives from Posco’s local customer companies such as Shanghai GM Dong Yue Motors and Geely Automobile.
