Posco’s IJPC Affiliate Launches Quick Six Sigma Program

Posco’s Indian affiliate, Posco-IJPC, has launched the Quick Six Sigma program as part of its effort toward becoming the No. 1 coil processing center in the world.

Posco celebrated the launch March 28 at the company’s auditorium in Karawang on the island of Java, Indonesia. The event was attended by more than 120 participants including QSS consultants from Posco, IJPC employees, QSS improvement leaders and team members. Participants resolved that they would make the plant waste-free, while encouraging each other to be innovative.

The event started with the announcement of the Indonesian company’s “QSS master plan,” which was created by the company’s employees. IJPC employees also expressed their will to make the company an industrial role model for production companies pursuing innovation.

“Let`s make our workplace more enjoyable through QSS,” said IJPC President Kwon Hyuk-jong in his speech. “And based on it, let’s make IJPC the No. 1 company”.

In the group presentation, Quick Six Sigma improvement leaders presented their future plans. Posco headquarters helped the participants share their passion for innovation through a video clip on “Posco Family Vision 2020.”

Quick Six Sigma consultants, who will play a key role in leading IJPC’s innovation efforts, gave a lecture on the virtue of Quick Six Sigma innovation activities, while motivating participants to join them by introducing the “innovation mileage system.”

In January, IJPC was selected as an object of Posco headquarters’ overseas consulting service. IJPC, consequently, will learn about Quick Six Sigma activities from Posco once a month, to select and educate QSS improvement leaders who will play a lead role in improving related systems at work.

The improvement leaders will focus on problem-solving, while other employees will seek to bring innovation into each of their own tasks.

The President and managers will also do their best to show good examples of Quick Six Sigma innovations through their works. The company plans for all of them to join together every Friday for group innovation activities in relation of each of their duties.
