POS-InfraAuto Conducts Groundbreaking Ceremony
11/04/2011 - POS-InfraAuto, a joint venture among Posco-CSPC, Korean Fine Blanking manufacturer MR-InfraAuto, Dongkuk Industries, and SK Networks established in the Huaqiao Business Park in Kunshan, jiangsu of China, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 31.
POS-InfraAuto, a joint venture among Posco-CSPC (15%), Korean Fine Blanking manufacturer MR-InfraAuto (51%), Dongkuk Industries (20%), and SK Networks (14%) established in the Huaqiao Business Park in Kunshan, jiangsu of China, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 31.
The company represents Posco’s efforts to position itself as a global auto parts supplier to take advantage of the rapid growth of the Chinese automobile market and respond to local sourcing needs of Geely Automobile, a key client of Posco-CSPC.
By incorporating fine blanking technology, POS-InfraAuto will manufacture parts for automotive functions including automatic transmissions, seat-reclining controllers, and seat belt clips. Fine blanking enables the processing of multiple parts, which previously required precision processing, with a single press operation. Unlike other blanking operations, which have a fracture rate of 70%, according to POS-InfraAuto, fine blanking allows for a smooth shearing surface and high degree of precision.
The POS-InfraAuto plant adjoins the site of the Posco-CSPC Plant 3, while CSPC Plant 3 is only 2 km from CSPC Plant 1 and 2.
The foundation of POS-Austem and POS-InfraAuto is expected to enable Posco-CSPC to build an auto parts cluster and achieve sales targets of half a million tonnes per year.
