04/13/2018 - Large-diameter pipe producer Dura-Bond Industries has received its API certification to produce small-diameter, high-frequency welded pipe at a newly acquired facility outside of Pittsburgh, Pa., USA.
In a statement, the company said it will produce pipe in diameters ranging from 8 5/8 to 20 inches and in lengths of up to 80 feet.
"Building on our reputation for quality, large-diameter LSAW pipe that we produce in Steelton, PA., USA, the (new) mill will now allow us to offer our customers a wider range of sizes and provide a steady supply of pipe for our new fusion-bonded epoxy (coating) plant in Duquesne, Pa.," the company said.
In receiving the certification, Dura-Bond is restarting an idled pipe plant it acquired from United States Steel Corporation in late 2016. The plant was once part of the sprawling National Tube Works.
“We're looking at (the plant) as a great opportunity for us. We have a challenge to face, but we think we'll be able to do that," Dura-
